Microsoft has begun testing the files explorer tabs for
Windows 11.
This feature appears to be one of the secret additions that
Microsoft has recently begun testing in Windows 11.
Adding tabs to File Explorer in Windows 11 allows multiple
folders to open in one window.
Microsoft first started testing tabs in Windows 10 apps,
within a feature called Groups.
This included support for tabs within File Explorer and tabs
in each Windows app. But Microsoft canceled the project and never brought it to
Windows 10 users.
However, Microsoft does not appear to be fixing the File
Explorer interface as part of supporting this tab. File Explorer has been in
the operating system since Windows 95.
A variety of designers have devised concepts to try to improve and update it in recent years.
Amanda Langowski, president of Windows Insider, said last
month that the company is communicating about the features it deliberately
empowers program subscribers to try and make feedback on.
Tabs are in windows 11 preview
The new preview version of the operating system comes with
construction number 22572 with new applications to easily edit video and manage
children's screen time.
The File Explorer tab feature works in one way or another,
as does third-party famous file managers. It is familiar to anyone who has used
a classified browser in recent years.
Because tabs are a much-needed feature for file explorer and
are a useful natural addition, an official announcement from Microsoft is
expected soon. But there is no guarantee that it will arrive with the version
of Windows 11.
Microsoft appears to be preparing the next major version of
the operating system. Windows Insider subscribers have recently received two
new designs with a range of improvements for touch users, among other general
improvements and changes over the past few months.
The next major update of the operating system is expected to
arrive in the second half of this year as version 22H2.
