Facebook acquires the famous GIPHY service


Facebook announced today, Friday, that it has acquired GIPHY - the company that owns the creation and sharing of GIF animation - in a move to add more entertainment to its applications



A social media giant said in a post: GIPHY will join the Instagram service team. She added: This service makes daily conversations more entertaining, so she plans to integrate Giphy's GIF library on Instagram, and its other apps so that users can find the best way to express themselves


Although Facebook did not disclose the financial details of the deal, a report from Axios said it could be around $ 400 million.

And Facebook indicated that 50% of the traffic that GIPHY is seeing is from the family of Facebook applications, and half of that percentage is from Instagram alone.

The company said: It has used the API software development interface for GIPHY for years in Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp, and after the acquisition, the service will continue to run its library, as users will be able to upload their GIFs, and developers and API partners can also continue to have access Same to the service interfaces.
