Facebook increases parental control features in Messenger Kids

"Messenger Kids" from Facebook is gaining new tools to improve the coordination and controlling of children's experiences, as the social network announced the update of the application recently in every service country, including Canada, Peru, Mexico, and the United States, along with an updated privacy policy governing the handling, management, and storage of Messenger Kids data.

The updates will allow the parents to get detailed data about how this app is being used by their children, so with whom they did chatting, or performed video calls, and even the history of blocked people.

There is also a feature allowing the parents to download all their kid's information, in addition to having the ability to get logs about pictures being shared either sent or received.

Facebook launched Messenger Kids, a child-friendly alternative to the main Messenger app that allows parents or guardians to review the people the child communicates with, in December 2017.

Messenger Kids features filters and augmented reality lenses, in addition to games and educational content, and allows children to register by name and nickname instead of the phone number, and they hide their accounts from searches on Facebook and does not automatically migrate accounts to full Facebook accounts once the children reach the age of 13, which is the minimum age for registration on Facebook.
